After having worked as a Healer for a number of years, offering Natural Healing, (what some may describe as Spiritual Healing) and Reiki Healing, I found myself becoming drawn increasingly to crystals. Initially I began to collect crystals that attracted my attention and which I felt would make beautiful ornaments for our home. In addition I collected some beautiful crystal spheres also with the feeling that they were quite simply beautiful objects.

I could not understand why some crystals drew me quite strongly whilst others did not appeal to me at all, and I started to investigate the world of crystals and their properties and uses.I was intrigued as to why I could hold one piece of crystal in my hand and simply think that is pretty but not for me, or even wonder why anyone would even want to buy a particular crystal. At other times I would notice a crystal and simply have to hold it in my hand.

Without even being aware of what was happening I was slowly being introduced to the wonder of crystals.I am aware that opinion generally on the subject of crystals is divided. There are those who see them as pieces of coloured rock and really do think the whole concept of 'crystal healing’ is to quote a number of people I have spoken to 'without foundation'. However, for those who have felt the mystical properties of crystals no explanation is necessary. It is, like healing ,one of life's intangibles, and it seems you either love crystals or are not touched by their visual or metaphysical beauty at all.

My collection of crystals began to grow at almost the same rate as my interest in their use for healing did. I discovered that a piece of Amethyst by the bedside or under a pillow can help to bring a better night's sleep, as can Sodalite, Howlite and several other crystals.

I found that when my client's occasionally felt the effects of their healing session quite strongly and experienced a slight sense of spaciness when first getting down from the treatment bed, a piece of Hematite would very quickly stabilise and ground them.It soon became quite apparent  to me that a piece of Hematite placed strategically during the healing session helped to prevent that spaciness being noticeable at all.

I began to learn that Blue Lace Agate, a crystal associated with the throat area has wonderful soothing and clearing properties, and that Amethyst is also a wonderfully peaceful stone.

Selenite can be decidedly helpful when a back problem presents itself, as it is a stone of alignment, although it does not simply have a tendency to ease the back problems which are probably caused by something being slightly out of alignment, it is at the same time realigning our whole energy system and putting us into alignment with a higher lighter sense of being.

Smoky quartz is also a wonderful grounding stone, but its wonder for me is its ability to absorb negative energy from our system, and the fact that as more than one client has reported, holding or sitting with a piece when feeling down or grumpy can lift the mood in quite a short space of time.

I could go on at far greater length about how I have discovered through experience that crystals can have a wonderfully healing effect, but there is no greater way to find out than to have a healing session with crystals. Anyone who attends for a crystal healing session expecting fireworks and electric sparks will be disappointed. These wonderful minerals are a part of the planet that we live on and they work naturally and in a subtle way.  However, there are also times when I get feedback from clients, which indicates a significant and noticeable effect from having a crystal healing session.

When giving crystal healing I select the crystals for my clients intuitively, and on researching the precise properties of each of the crystals that I have chosen, I usually discover they are ideal for the personality and the issues of the client concerned. The crystals are often chosen before I have even met the client for the first time, and as one new client commented, when I ran through the formula I had prepared for him, 'and you worked all that out from one short phone call'.

Just like crystals the intuition of a Healer is a powerful tool, and together they can be most beneficial to those who have the opportunity to allow the crystals to gently release their healing vibration into the energy system of the person they are placed on or around.

For those of a more scientific mindset it is worth considering that crystals are used in science and technology for a number of applications, and the reason for this is their acknowledged piezo electric effect. In short they vibrate and emit an energy that can be harnessed and applied.

We understand much more clearly nowadays that we can absorb many things from our environment simply by being close to or in contact with them, some are harmful some are healthful, so it is not strange that when we place ourselves close to these wonderful stones which are made up of the very fabric of the planet we live on they are able to help us just as herbs and fruits and vegetables which are also a part of the planet , can sustain and nourish us.
