Elizabeth in the pink

Hi everyone, my name is Elizabeth Slingsby and I live in my home town of Preston, which is in Lancashire in the north west of England. For the last seventeen years or so, since I discovered that it is possible, and more than that it is ‘natural’, for us to heal each other and ourselves, I have worked as a Healer.

It was only as I moved away from those early years of healing, that I realised I had been providing healing to people around me for some time, without being aware of just how much help I was giving. But then benevolent guidance from friends (both seen and unseen) coaxed me into seeking out a professional body to help me develop and use the healing more fully.

As a result I became an Accredited Healer member of The Association of Professional Healers. My membership of this healer association means that I am qualified and insured to practice as a Healer. I am also a member of the NHS Directory Of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners, and my membership certificates can be viewed on the index page of this site.

There are many things in life which have a healing effect on us from the laughter of a child to a great work of art, from flowers in spring to the gentle touch of love from another, and the knowledge that they are there for us in our time of need. I have found this to be true from a personal perspective, and it was this that encouraged me to gain a counselling qualification to help me also fulfil that aspect of my healing work.

The healing I offer, frequently works in combination with counselling, as I believe our society is so fast paced and our Health Services so overburdened, that there is insufficient time, space, privacy and compassion available to those who desperately need to talk through those issues that trouble or confuse them. Such issues are frequently at the heart of some persistent undercurrent of physical discomfort or distress, and are in effect the 'root of the weed' which needs to be dispensed with in order to achieve a return to improved physical health and greater peace of mind.

I have to confess to this being somewhat of a passion for me, and a source of frustration that the kind of service I offer to clients cannot be widely available under the umbrella of the National Health Service. However, hopefully the situation is changing, and the NHS now have a directory of complementary and alternative practitioners available to health care professionals who may call upon such services.

For many years I worked within the legal profession, and as a result have first hand experience of the deadlines, standards, targets, pressures and stresses that so many of our workplaces put upon us.

Having been detached from this kind of environment for some time now, in order to commit more fully to my healing work, I am able to see even more clearly  'from a distance' the damage so many of us suffer, from the effects and influences of the 'workplace'. As a result of my work with clients I also see the damage we can sustain from our emotional turmoil in other areas of our lives, which if left, can eventually cause physical ill health.

When I am not working I live a relatively quiet life at home with my husband of many years, who of necessity, is required to have increasing patience with the time I spend on my work. Our two sons left home some time ago, to find their respective paths in life, and so we did until recently share our home with a large fluffy, and to the end  puppy-like, german shepherd dog called Max.  I know the animal lovers amongst you will understand the dreadful space he left in our home and our hearts.

Max was almost eleven years of age and according to the chart in the office of our Vet, that equates to around ninety years of age in a human, so he was really a very old man.  The trouble was, no one had told him that ,and he firmly believed, despite his limitations towards the end, that he was still a puppy who thought that the whole of life was a game, albeit a game that had become beyond his capabilities.

I think perhaps he had something to teach us.

It has been said that to be a Healer is not something you do, but something you are. I believe this applies to most (if not all) good Healers I have met over the years. Their work is not restricted to the healing session as such, but is something which emanates from them in all their dealings with others. We must all have met someone whose company leaves us feeling refreshed or uplifted and this for me, is the essence of healing.

During my earlier years as a Healer I found myself writing poetry.   The inspiration for this was quite unexpected as I had never written poetry before, but it came when needed, usually for others, who found guidance and comfort from it when they needed it most. However, as the healing work has increased the poetry comes less often, and other kinds of writing have come to the fore, not least the writing needed to provide my  workshops.

After I had been healing for a number of years I discovered another aspect of my healing work which is in the form of Soul Path Consultations.  I do not call these sessions readings, as they are not tarot or prophecy. However, they are done with the help of a set of uniquely illustrated cards which I have designed specifically for the purpose.

When we are troubled or confused, or we feel that we are at a cross roads in life we often seek out a counsellor, or a professional 'reader' of some description.  But this is not always possible in practical or financial terms. My soul path cards work as an amazing tool for gaining clarity on issues that may be confusing or troubling us, and clients who have a soul path consultation often say that their life has been changed as a result.

Working with the soul path illustrations and insights offers a wonderful source of every day guidance and wisdom which addresses a whole range of the issues we may face in life, and often providesa greater clarity around how we may deal with them, from a deeper level of our being. An added advantage of the cards is that they would be quite easy for anyone to use.

I continue to hope that I will one day find a publisher who is waiting to publish my Inner Wisdom Soul Path cards, together with the accompanying book, as I firmly believe that they could be of considerable help to many people.

In 2002 I planned to start running my workshops on self discovery, relaxation, meditation, soul path and chakra work, on a regular basis. However, the best laid plans are often diverted by the universe until the time is right for them to be put into effect.

The Day of Self Discovery (relax-release-re-learn)', workshop in the autumn of that year was a great success, but despite many requests for more of the same, life took over as it so often does with all of us, and I was unable to continue with the workshops for quite some time.  However, the good news is that I resumed the workshopsand have been able to run them in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

I ran the Soul Path Connection workshop in February this year and hope to  offer the Inner Awareness connection workshop in the summer. So if you interested in attending keep watching the workshops page of this site, or e-mail if you want to be advised by e-mail when the next workshop date is set.

Whilst the earlier workshops were a great success I have more recently found a new venue which is larger lighter and airier and an all round improvement as an environment for the workshops.  It is also easy to find and only a few minutes from junction 32 of the M6 motorway.

I try to ensure that my workshops are constructive enjoyable days but also peaceful retreats away from the hustle bustle of the every day world, and feedback from attendees indicates that this has been achieved, so if you are seeking either, or both of these then a day at one of my workshops will be for you.

The whole of the planet and the human race are moving onward and upward and many of us are finding it helpful to spend to time away from the everyday pressures looking at what is happening around and within us.

The name of my website sums up my wish for all of us, a wish that I firmly believe will eventually come to pass, if we are able to focus on all of the good things that are taking place around us, and resist being brought down by the bombardment of ‘bad news’ aimed at us every day through various forms of media.

This is that we can make a difference to the world around – and within – us, more than we perhaps realise, by spreading our own individual kindness and understanding toward others wherever possible.

The Peaceful Planet concept is a step towards helping ourselves and each other to make this earth a more peaceful planet to live on, and, towards becoming more aware of the universal nature of ourselves and our lives; and the things we have in common rather than our differences.

Click on the links to find out how you can embark on a journey of self discovery and learn about improving your life and the lives of those around you.

Remember this "the strongest and the wisest help does not come from afar - it is within and always there once we know who we are"

With my very best wishes to all who have taken the time to read this page.
